Days after more than 60 children died due to alleged shortage of liquid oxygen supply at BRD Medical College and Hospital in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday removed additional chief secretary (Medical Education) Anita Bhatnagar Jain.
He also ordered FIR to be lodged against about half a dozen persons, including former hospital principal Rajeev Mishra, who has been suspended, Indian Express report said.
As per the report, the decision came soon after state Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar submitted an investigation report into the incident. State Cabinet Minister Shrikant Sharma confirmed that the probe report has been submitted to the chief minister and findings would be communicated to the media later.
Following the death of more than 60 children within five days at the hospital, the state government had set up a four-member panel under the chief secretary to probe the role of role of liquid oxygen supplier and the reason behind the shortage of oxygen. However, the state government had maintained that different diseaseslike Japanese Encephalitis, and not shortage of oxygen had led to the deaths, Indian Express report added .
